the grotto at Grotto Gardens in Maple Creek

The Grotto – A Special Meaning

The name Grotto Gardens was chosen by our family as a tribute to our son, Dean Sellinger who passed away from cancer at the age of 14. On our farm property, located in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, we have constructed a concrete and stone grotto that contains our son’s ashes. The grotto is surrounded by the flowering Saskatoon orchard and recently planted perennial gardens.

Meet the Grotto Gardens Team

Dan & Dana

Owners Dan Sellinger and Dana Hassett returned to their Saskatchewan prairie roots in 2011. Bringing their experiences and opportunities from British Columbia, Dan and Dana have established a fruit orchard and a nostalgic log building on the former Sellinger farm. The family has created a Saskatchewan destination for farm food and family fun and hope to continue growing memories.

Silken Sellinger

Daughter, Silken Sellinger returns to the family farm after receiving her education in Pastry Arts in British Columbia. She will be managing the kitchen operations in the log barn bakery and will be adding value to the orchard berries in her tasty pastries. Silken is also attending school in the off season in the accounting field which will assist in the day to day operations of Grotto Gardens.

Sayla & Taylor

Daughter, Sayla Sellinger and her husband Taylor Zoethout will be returning seasonally to the farm to help with the farm operations. They bring with them great customer service and hand crafted “Sweet Wood” products.
