Enjoy an authentic indigenous experience Located on the grounds of Grotto Gardens Country Market, your bannock making experience will take place alongside a teepee that was constructed and raised by members of the Nekaneet First Nation. The Nekaneet are a Cree-speaking nation, whose history pre-dates European settlement in the Cypess Hills. Sit and learn to make this indigenous staple from a local Nekaneet elder, and while your bannock roasts on a stick over an open fire, listen to the stories from a time before the Grotto….
When: Every Thursday starting May 24th, 2018
Where: Grotto Gardens Country Market (the large red barn, located on Hwy 21 as you travel towards the Centre Block of the Cypress Hills from Maple Creek).
Time: 10am and 12:30pm
Age: 13 and up *Note children under 13 may participate when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Cost: $25 pp –
Note: minimum 4 participants needed to run class. If fewer than 4 participants are registered, Grotto Gardens will make every effort to ensure that you are moved into an available class, or will refund your money. (Please note cancellation policy on booking form).
